Day 2 in Scotland

Wow!! What a beautiful day we've had. The weather and the sights!! Blue sky and sunshine all day. We started out late due to sleeping late after our long 2 days prior. It was hair washing day for Mary and thankfully the hair dryer worked (borrowed from the place we are staying) but my curling iron wouldn't work with the converter so I looked like a bush woman all day!! Quite the sight. Off to breakfast in the little nearby town of Aberfeldy. Charming little spot that served toast and jam along with granola...Yes, Roy Turner actually ate granola and was happy!!
Driving down the road with a semi-plan for the day when we got side-tracked by a road sign directing us to Drummond Castle Gardens... O M G!!! What a beautiful way to be side-tracked!! Unbelievably gorgeous AND we met and visited with the man who oversees the entire estate!! A family still lives in the castle ("Honey, I'm home"!) but the gardens are opened to the public...all 10 of us!
Leaving the gardens, we set out for Stirling, home to Stirling Castle, Church of the Rude (Rude means cross...had to ask about that!) and the William Wallace monument. We only made it through the castle and walked the lovely, very old cemetery behind the church.  Will make the church and William Wallace tomorrow on our way to St. Andrews. We'll be rising much earlier.
Had a nice dinner on the way home in the quaint town of Crieff. We have been very pleasantly surprised with the lack of people...we love people but not crowds so that's really been nice.
Till tomorrow....

  5. And a beautiful bush woman you are! Is there an opening for a garden keeper? I want that job! Sounds like you guys are doing your Roy and Mary graciousness thing....meeting folks, learning their stories, leaving behind joy and love. Way to represent our country without the "ugly" American style! Keep sending these our way! Love you guys, D&K
