William Wallace and Oban

Another amazing day here...ate a quick breakfast in Aberfeldy and headed to Stirling (again) but got side-tracked (again) and visited the Famous Grouse Experience!! The Glenturret distillery...one of the oldest in Scotland and learned a great deal about malt whisky from a beautiful blue-eyed red-haired woman, Fiona!! Had a great visit and left with some adult beverage! Our journey then took us to the William Wallace monument in Stirling...oh, my!! We climbed 246 concrete steps through a very narrow turret to the top of the monument that had breath-taking views of the town and of Stirling Castle. Yes, Roy climbed AND took pictures from the top!! He is living on the edge with this trip!!
Traveled through gorgeous country...the Troussach Forrest that had incredible mountain and "loch" views all along the road. We stopped for a lite lunch in the little town of Crianlarich at the Rod & Reel where Roy actually tried Haggis...YUCK!! He took 1 bite and that was the end of that but we spent a long time visiting with Caroline (about my age) about life in this part of the world and sharing our Texas version of gross food: calf-frys!! Two young men, Lee & Lee!!  we're great fun as well.
Journeyed on through more of God's beautiful creation to the sea-side town of Oban. We were blessed to get a room in an old Victorian guesthouse right across the street from the water!! Mary is a happy girl! Last minute and a sea side suite!!! Blessed indeed! Graeme owns the home as he has lived in it since birth...he said, " I've called this beautiful place home for 45 years and now it is my livelihood". What a treasure. It is exquisite in every detail.
Currently sitting in a pub ( with WI-FI) while Roy drinks ( we are strolling back to the Glenburnie House), watches Wimbledon and I journal!! Life is indeed good.
Order of pics: view from our room, Roy looking out from our room, Mary at top of monument, view of uppermost spiral at monument.
Till tomorrow....
