We unloaded, regrouped, got directions and headed to the Cliffs of Moher that majestically rise some 200 meters out of the Atlantic Ocean. I don't have a vocabulary rich enough to convey the beauty my eyes beheld!! God in all his glory. We all said it felt so surreal to be present at a place we'd only read about and seen in pictures. Don't pinch me too hard...not ready to wake from this wonderful trip!
It was unseasonably warm today..about 80 degrees with a brilliant blue sky and minimal breeze...I write this to set the stage for a calm Atlantic Ocean with a sailboat gently bobbing near the cliffs, sea birds chattering and waves crashing at the base of the cliffs. The entire scene laid out before us was humbling. We walked to several spots to see the cliffs from different angles...hiked up to a high spot and had a picnic of apples, cheese/crackers and of course some chocolate.
Did I mention, we didn't get to the cliffs till nearly 6:00 when most everyone had left...it was great. We stayed till after 8:00 ( it stays light here till nearly 10:30!)
Left the cliffs and drove about 8 miles to the tiny fishing village of Doolin where we ate yummy pub grub in O'Connor's pub and commenced to make all of Roy's dreams of Ireland a reality as he sat and listened to local musicians play and sing traditional Irish music. He was mesmerized. We all enjoyed the whole experience. Again, it's hard to convey in words. The Irish people are so very friendly and such a happy, lively lot they are.
Motored back to our B&B where everyone but yours truly has gone to bed.
OMG!! Just breathtaking, even from the computer! Once again thanks for making this so much fun for ALL of us Mary. The details and pictures make it come to life. Libby is impressed by the verbiage you use in your journal (I'm hoping she is inspired by your writing :)) Now back to the mayhem in my house...xoxo - ring
